Norfolk area information

CROMER also known as The Gem of The Norfolk Coast, is a quaint, charming seaside resort, little changed from the Victorian era, when the well to do 'summertimers' promenaded on the seafront. The towns' famous landmarks include a traditional pier and a magnificent medieval church, which offers splendid views over the town and coastline from its 50-meter-high tower. Cromer is perhaps best known, outside Norfolk, for its delicious Crabs, acknowledged to be some of the finest in the world.

EAST RUNTON is a small coastal village just over a mile from Cromer and has its own sandy beach, Post Office, small supermarket, Fish and Chip shop, 2 public houses, an excellent Greek restaurant where you can dine on home cooked Greek or English dishes, and if dining late you may be lucky enough to be entertained by the music of the Constantia Brothers.

WEST RUNTON with a handful of shops, restaurants, teashops and a good village inn, is probably most famous for the bones of a Woolly Mammoth discovered in 1995. Explore the rock pools of the sand and pebble beach, or take a climb up Incleborough Hill for a wonderful view of this beautiful area.

SHERINGHAM Retaining much of its historic character, the town has friendly pubs, a good range of shops and a laid back friendly atmosphere. Sheringham has Splash a tropical swimming pool approx. 15-mins walk from the town centre. Also Sheringham has a small steam powered railway called the Poppy Line, just across the road from the main station. The Poppy Line can transport you along the scenic coastline to the quaint Georgian town of Holt.

OVERSTRAND is a small village between Cromer and Mundesley. It has a beach, post office and convenience shop; café and hotel with good bar food; all are within a short walking distance. Overstrand is only a few minutes drive away from Cromer and approximately 10 minutes drive away from Mundesley.

MUNDESLEY is a Coastal Village with one of the best Sandy beaches in the area and has the European Blue Flag award. There is a Park, Grocers, Post Office stores and other convenience shops, Fish and Chip shop, American Burger bar, Garage, cafés, Public Houses and Hotels, chemist and Doctors Surgery. Mundesley is approximately 7 miles south of Cromer and about 5 miles from North Walsham.

NORFOLK BROADS are well worth a visit. The best section of the Broads is from Wroxham passing Wroxham Broad, Salhouse Broad, to Horning, and continuing to Ranworth broad and to Potter Heigham. Day boats and picnic boats are available for hire, and from Wroxham you can take trip to The Vintage Broadsman or Cordon Rouge to sample part of this route. There are many interesting wading birds, ducks and swans, together with quaint cottages and broads edge properties to see.

NORWICH the most complete medieval city in Britain. Norwich is bursting with things to see and do. Take in the 900-year-old cathedral, one of the finest Romanesque buildings in Europe, or stroll down the beautifully preserved cobbles of Elm Hill. Explore the Castle Museum and Art Gallery, Dragon Hall - the last surviving merchants trading hall, or visit The Forum with its Origins Exhibition. Experience a taste of Norfolk at the world famous Coleman's Mustard Shop and Museum or marvel at Sir Norman Foster's magnificent Sainsbury Centre - home to culturally rich art.
